The three drone pieces that make up "Massospora cicadina" were inspired by and recorded over the course of a few days during the emergence of Brood XIII, the 17-year cicadas in 2024.
Many of Brood XIII were infected with a fungus, Massospora cicadina, which caused them to become zombie like. The fungus is a sexually transmitted disease and caused the cicades to become hypersexual and continue to mate even though they were infected.
The salt shakers of death were gone as fast as they emerged.
